By the time Beach to Brother Running festival hits Port Macquarie in September, Enriched Health Care will have provided services to over 15,000 participants and celebrated our 12 year birthday.
It is helpful to proudly reflect on where we have come from to better understand where we are going. Enriched Health Care has a professional history of leading from the front with innovative models of health care. We  were one of the first Australian Health Care organisations to embrace picker institute patient centred care principles that helped guide our early implementation of integrated health care programs. Enriched Health Care established high quality, patient centred and outcome focused health care as our core values. Our health care team members lived and breathed these values on a daily basis as we pioneered the integration of effective multidisciplinary care approaches including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Psychology, Counselling, Sports Physician, Fitness Instructors and Massage.
Our geographical reach has included Moree, Taree, Laurieton, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Nambucca Heads, Macksville and Coffs Harbour. More recently Enriched Health Care has been focused on Mid North Coast of NSW and has proudly provided a range of modern health care solutions, some of which include Corporate Health Assessments, Work Place Injury treatment, Aged Care at home and residential aged care well being and falls prevention programs, functional conditioning programs for people disabilities.
Enriched Health Care is a company that embraces constant change for improved health care delivery. Over the last 18 months Enriched Health Care has been hard at work, further modernising of our health care services to be lean, light footed and agile. We changed our focus from “patient” centred care to” person” centred. This included transition of working with patients or injured workers to working with “participants”. Enriched Health Care expanded our high quality service delivery with the addition of person centred projects working with participants with spinal cord injury and brain injuries, which embraced a leadership role within a “transdisciplinary” approach to health care.
Multidisciplinary care is defined as the provision of multiple health care professionals without direct interaction between providers. Transdisciplinary care involves the use of a team approach consisting of many different types of providers who collaborate to identify and meet participants and family needs. Some of the significant challenges within multidisciplinary care are that, though the health care team you are involved in is working under the one physical roof, they are purposefully ineffective in their ability to engage with each other regarding your care. Multidisciplinary Health Care is unfortunately often simply a physical collection of health care professional silos.
Enriched Health Cares transdisciplinary health care intervention reached outside the traditional physical walls of Enriched Health Care builidings and teams, and we became involved within leadership and collaboration of health care professionals and health care organisations that share our core values.
Enriched Health Care has additionally heavily invested in evidence based medical technology as a modern way of delivering high quality, person centred and outcome focused healthcare. Our new clinic at 3/133-137 Gordon St is equipped with the first Alter G treadmill on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Our participants using Alter G has included treatment of foot drop, cerebral palsy, stroke, parkinsons disease, multiple sclerosis, charcot marie tooth disease, total knee replacements, post operative ankle rehabilitation, weight loss, running injuries, functional neurological disorders, low back pain, hip osteoarthritis, functional conditioning, mobility improvements falls prevention, just to name a few.
Enriched Health Care has modernised our clinical gait assessment abilities with ongoing use of force plates and video analysis, and additional inclusion of medical accelerometers. We lead with the most modern gait and motion assessment ability on the Mid North Coast. We have referred to this now as Enriched Health Care Gait and Motion Clinic. In June 2016 Enriched Health Care was very proud to achieve registration as a NDIS provider for NSW.  In July 2017 NDIS becomes available in our geographical areas. This includes our existing coverage areas of Laurieton, Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Nambucca Heads and Coffs Harbour. Enriched Health Care is accredited to provide early intervention programs and health care supports such Physiotherapy, Accredited Exercise Physiology, Personal Trainers, Health Care Assistants. I do intend to run this year after being in recovery last year from Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. Enriched Health Care is sponsoring the teams events and looking forward to meeting all the entrants. This is wonderful friendly event for all runners whether fast or slow. With a mixture of trail, sand and mountains it’s an incredibly unique event for the Greater Port Macquarie area.
