Overcoming fears:
‘fear of movement’ & ‘fear of re-injury’
In some situations after an injury, doing things seems to mean there is more painIn some situations after an injury, doing things seems to mean there is more pain
This might mean we start avoiding things.
For example, if turning my head to see behind hurts, then I won’t do it.
If putting weight on my leg hurts – then it is easier to stop doing that.
Sometimes we develop a number of fears:
- Sometimes we are fearful of doing
something – just in case of more pain.
- Sometimes we think that pain means that
the body part will be injured again
Pretty soon we feel like giving up
doing everything due to the pain.
